A creekside log residence in Red Lodge, radically reimagined for modern mountain living while honoring its hand-hewn character.
On the banks of Rock Creek in Red Lodge, this 5,800-square-foot log residence was reimagined from the inside out — a radical remodel that kept the warmth and craft of the original logs while completely rethinking how the home lives, flows, and meets the water.
Nicholas Modroo led the project as designer and project manager, from the first concept through construction administration and punch-list close-out. The art of a remodel like this is knowing exactly what to preserve and what to transform — and weaving the new work in so seamlessly that the seams disappear.
Featured in Big Sky Journal's Western Design, the finished home proves a thoughtful renovation can feel every bit as intentional as a home built from scratch.
